Jim Beam & Mountain Dew News

A long time ago YKWPD said, "to win the SEC you have to win Amen Corner". We have won the SEC six times and every time we won Amen Corner, but in 2008 it has a whole new meaning. Win Amen Corner and let the partying begin, split and we can look forward to a bright future, lose and we can allt hank God this year is over!!!

But DAMN IT - I BELIEVE AND YOU SHOULD ALSO!!!

This is the 112th meeting of the Deep South's Oldest Rivalry and is such a huge game every year recruiting wise because the way Auburn is so close to the Georgia state line. The state of Georgia has given Auburn some of its biggest coaches and players but none bigger than -

In 1978 Auburn wore orange jerseys against UGa for the 1st time since the Tulane game in 1955. Last year UGa wore black to get fired up. Maybe we should wear the orange to get the Tigers fired up.

Did UT Martin leave any in the locker room?

In the last 12 meetings the lower ranked or unranked team has won 7 times. Over the same period the teams have split the games.

AUBURN has won 51 consecutive games when the Tigers have scored 30 or more points.
Can you tell me when the last time the Tigers lost when scoring at least 30 points?

I know it's an early game but we can do this.

Last thought, I was in Athens last year and witnessed the dancing Dawgs and their classless act. I know that many of our players and fans are still upset with it and have been very public about it this week. One thing I love about AUBURN is that no matter what happens before, during or after a game the AUBURN NATION has always shown the most upright respect for the opponent and their fans. It has been 22 years since we turned on the sprinklers. So if somehow UGa gets out of hand, I know just the right person to call to get the switch flipped!!!

You think AU is MAN enough to beat them Dawgs? I hope so because if not the Loveliest Village on the Plains may not be so lovely anymore!!!

PATRICK FAIN DYE - APPROVES THIS MESSAGE!!!

I had to google "Amen Corner" in reference to SEC football (apparently August National has an Amen Corner too). I agree with your assesment of the situation. I can't even get truly excited about this week and this is my favorite home game week! Man.

.....My guess for the last loss in which we scored 30, would be the 1996 Georgia game, in Auburn.

.....Georgia was out of timeouts, trailing 28-21, under ten seconds, 2nd and 10. Bobo dropped back, and Jimmy Brumbaugh bludgeoned through a double-team block, and sacked Bobo back out at the 30 yard line. Clock should have run out, right? They sure let it run out on us, in 1992! All 20 seconds of it...

.....But no. Georgia players started swatting the loose ball around, Charles Dorsey picked it up, and the officials stopped the clock. Bobo spiked it, then set up a 4th down Hail Mary, which worked. Overtime. AND, Auburn got called for interference on the score. AND, somehow, the zebras decided that the penalty from the 4th quarter could cross over to overtime, and be tacked onto Auburn's first possession.

.....The officials felt guilty, evidently. On 4th and 10 from the 35, Dameyune Craig chucked up a prayer in the general direction of the goal line. Robert Baker was the nearest to the ball, with two UGA players stride for stride in coverage. Baker tripped over his own two feet, and the refs flagged Georgia for interference, giving Auburn new life, that they would take in for a score.

.....The Tiger defense was out of gas, though, and couldn't stop the UGA toss sweep, even with all 11 defenders in the box. Eventually, in the 4th overtime, the Auburn offense ran out of gas, too. Georgia won, 56-49.

.....Now, if you want to know the last time Auburn scored 30, IN REGULATION, and lost... It was during the Barfield administration, on October 27, 1979, in Winston-Salem. Auburn blew a 38-21 halftime lead against Wake Forest, as Jay Venuto threw for three second half TDs, and Auburn lost 42-38.

Look back to the 1995 season. We lost to UF 49-38.
