Bammer of the Week (Part II)

Ian Fitzsimmons of WJOX's The Roundtable had a warrant issued for his arrest because of bad checks written in the nineties. Guess we'll be hearing twice as many Cafe Lazio commercials for a while until this Bammer can pay off his fine.

What does (bammer) mean?

Is it a derogatory term used by fans of Auburn University to describe fans of the University of Alabama, in a half hearted attempt to ease the pain that has resulted from having an historically impotent football team.

Just wondering.

WAR EAGLE!!!!

If you are an Auburn fan then you know what "Bammer" is and I don't need to explain it to you. Though I imagine you're really a Bammer.

As for having a historically impotent football team...

Auburn has the all-time 16th best winning % in college football history, SPUAT has the 6th. Hardly a huge disparity considering the amount of teams that have played 1A college football in history.

Auburn has the 8th best winning % in bowl history and won the 12th most in history. AU is 16th in all-time bowl games played.

I know your argument is SPUAT is higher on the list than Auburn in all of those categories. Fine. But that hardly makes Auburn a historically impotent football team.

Couple of things, your use of the word impotent doesn't fit the definition, look it up. And you don't use the word "an" before "historically" since historically starts with a consonant. You would have learned that in grammar school, if you made it that far.

One more thing, Bammer, Six!

mmmm, hate to break it to you, but the word "an" is used correctly in the first comment, and as the husband of a journalism grad I commend the reader on that. You should have called him out for ending his question with a period instead of a question mark. Either way, it's pointless to get into historical stats with Bama fans. They've got more wins, championships (not as many as they claim), bowl games, etc. Just take solace in the fact that since the NCAA started making and enforcing recruiting rules and limitations they've been more bad years than good with a whole lot of average packed in the middle. No more swimming scholarships for football players or rosters in the hundreds.

My bad on the "an" thing. Thanks for correcting me on that one.

My bad on the period in place of a question mark.

Roll Tide!!!

All in good fun.

Have a nice day.
